Electricity Pricing and Financial Modelings Senior Manager at NamPower, Christo Visser, says the 17.44% they applied from the electricity control board is 33% below their operational cost. 

President Nangolo Mbumba inaugurated Nampower's 54-megawatt Anixas 2 Power Station at Walvis Bay with a call for affordable basic commodities.

Mbumba said supply models for basic commodities should incorporate innovative solutions that make such goods affordable for communities.

Construction of the Oshikoto Biomass Power Station Project, valued at N$2.3 billion and located near Tsumeb, is set to begin following a recent ground-breaking ceremony.

NamPower celebrated the inauguration of the Auas-Gerus 400-kilovolt transmission line near Dordabis in the │Khomas Region. 

This project is part of Nampower's plan to expand its infrastructure and aims to make Namibia energy self-sufficient by 2030.

Consumers are expected to fork out more from their pockets for electricity as of July 1st, as the Electricity Control Board (ECB) approved an 8% bulk tariff increment. 

This means the current N$1.98 kilowatts per hour has now increased to N$2.14 kilowatts per hour for the 2024–2025 financial period.

Ten of the electricity licence holders who have not applied for their annual review with the Electricity Control Board (ECB) were accorded amnesty.

ECB initiated to adjust their annual tariff from October 1st, 2023, for post-paid and prepaid; the effective date is October 24th, 2023.
