Craft Bistro co-owner Petra Illing withdraws lawsuit against Home Affairs Ministry

The co-owner of the Craft Bistro at the Windhoek Craft Centre, Petra Illing has withdrawn her lawsuit against the Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security.

Illing’s latest action comes after she and the ministry reached an agreement.

Part of the agreement states that the ministry will no longer undertake to arrest or detain Illing for not being in possession of a visa, pending the determination of Illing’s short-term employment visa which was submitted last in December 2022.

The Namibian Police is fighting another lawsuit alleging physical abuse.

The legal suit emanates from a July 2020 incident that transpired in the Windhoek Single Quarters’ vicinity.

Members of the police stand accused of carrying out a wrongful assault on Erickson Nangolo.

In court papers, Nangolo claims that officers grabbed and choked him by the throat, and in the process obstructed his airways.
