The co-owner of the Craft Bistro at the Windhoek Craft Centre, Petra Illing has withdrawn her lawsuit against the Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security.

Illing’s latest action comes after she and the ministry reached an agreement.

Part of the agreement states that the ministry will no longer undertake to arrest or detain Illing for not being in possession of a visa, pending the determination of Illing’s short-term employment visa which was submitted last in December 2022.

The ministry also agreed to review its decision to reject a short-term employment visa application by Illing.

The two parties have agreed that Petra Illing’s application to become a permanent resident shall be considered before 31 March of this year.

Petra Illing was picked up from her place of business after workers of the establishment protested about non-payment for work done in November last year.
