Craft Bistro co-owner Petra Illing withdraws lawsuit against Home Affairs Ministry

The co-owner of the Craft Bistro at the Windhoek Craft Centre, Petra Illing has withdrawn her lawsuit against the Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security.

Illing’s latest action comes after she and the ministry reached an agreement.

Part of the agreement states that the ministry will no longer undertake to arrest or detain Illing for not being in possession of a visa, pending the determination of Illing’s short-term employment visa which was submitted last in December 2022.

Craft Bistro employees open a case of assault against police officers

The employees of Craft Bistro, who have been on strike since Monday, have opened a case of assault against police officers after they were allegedly bruised and abused.

Employees are on strike in protest over management's failure to pay them their salaries on time, mistreatment, racism, and emotional abuse.

The employees claimed that they work long hours and that staff is often hired and fired verbally.

To date, none of them have been given job descriptions for individual positions in the company.
