The deputy minister made the call at the one-day Oranjemund Investment Conference, which was held under the theme 'Creating a Sustainable Future through Economic Diversification', to boost the town's profile as an investment hub.

Cabinet has directed that investigations be extended to the source of dried sedimentation and that no further sales of the product should be made.

This follows the deaths of 16 people who died of suspected food poisoning at Kayova village in the Kavango East Region.

Expressing sympathy to the bereaved family during the 8th Cabinet resolution briefing, Deputy Minister of Information and Communication Technology Emma Theofelus noted that the cabinet endorsed the intervention to provide burial assistance as well as food provision by the office of the Prime Minister.

Namibia a favourable environment for development of digital skills industry

Theofelus made these remarks during a consultative meeting held in collaboration with the e-Governance Academy of Estonia.

The meeting focused on digital skills in Namibia and shared best practises from Estonia.

Youth called to make use of technology and advance businesses

The Deputy Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Emma Theofelus, has called on young people to make use of technology and advance business opportunities around it.

Theofelus made this call at the opening of the Omaheke Youth Camp and Exhibition 2023 at Gobabis.

"I urge all of you here today as young people to embrace technology and use it as a creation of a better future for ourselves and our communities. Take advantage of the resources available to you and work to develop your skills in areas such as coding, digital marketing, and e-commerce."

MICT, Impact Tank Analysis Foundation sign MoU

The Ministry of Information Communication Technology and the Impact Tank Analysis Foundation signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate on transforming self-sustaining digital programmes.

The MoU will accelerate employment in the digital and technology spaces.

Deputy Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Emma Theofelus says the country's educational systems must adapt to the world as technology continues to evolve.

She also says Namibia must transition from static to dynamic digital technology for students and scholars to communicate without boundaries. 

Theofelus made these remarks at the 35th Integrated Tertiary Software Conference, underway in Windhoek. 

MICT rolls out pilot Digital Computer Literacy Program

The digital divide between urban and rural communities is getting narrower as the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology ensures that the young reap the benefits of the digital world.

To motivate this, the ministry will roll out a pilot Digital Computer Literacy Program to five regions following its launch in Tsumkwe.

The program is aimed at increasing digital computer literacy in rural areas.

It is one step towards achieving a 100% digital literacy rate in the country by 2030.

MICT introduces Digital Literacy Programme

As the world moves toward digitalization, the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology has introduced a Digital Literacy Program.

The program was launched by ICT's Deputy Minister Emma Theofelus at Tsumkwe in the Otjozondjupa Region, and it will be rolled out to other regions during the pilot phase.

Speaking during her engagement with Ohangwena Governor Walde Ndevashiya, Theophilus says the Digital Literacy Program aims to equip Namibians with computer literacy.
