The leader of the Popular Democratic Movement (PDM), McHenry Venaani, has called on President Nangolo Mbumba to look into the affairs of the fishing industry. 

President Nangolo Mbumba has conveyed deep sadness over the death of struggle veteran Idah Jimmy-!Ha-Eiros, who died on Wednesday at the age of 78.

President Mbumba visited the family home in Keetmanshoop today to console the family and extend
a message of condolences to the mourners.

President Nangolo Mbumba says the government is concerned over chieftaincy succession disputes, causing leadership vacuums within traditional authorities. 

The Head of State made the remark while addressing traditional leaders at Keetmanshoop. 

President Nangolo Mbumba says true independence is fundamental to the success and credibility of any nation, as it is the only way people can obtain their dignity and full humanity.

President Nangolo Mbumba has reassured the diplomatic community of Namibia's commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and partnerships, continuing the legacy of the late President Hage Geingob. 

The Namibian government remains steadfast in addressing the backlog of serviced urban land and affordable housing, providing an amount of N$297 million in subsidies to local authorities and regional councils.

President Nangolo Mbumba has credited the late President Hage Geingob for the increased female representation in Parliament and the executive arm of government and for providing astute leadership at a time when the country needed it most.

President Nangolo Mbumba says the promotion of Namibianization is progressing well in the fisheries sector. 

He revealed that, to date, 90% of fishing rights are owned by Namibians, and the sector employs about 18,000 Namibians.

Namibia expects firmer estimates of recoverable reserves to be announced this financial year and aid in addressing socio-economic challenges such as unemployment.

The Swapo Party Central Committee clarified its decision about its presidential candidate for the November 2024 elections.
