The Minister of Industries, Mines and Energy has reaffirmed to the National Assembly that decisions related to upstream petroleum activities remain firmly within the Ministry.

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has dismissed allegations of her family's involvement in the oil and gas sector.

Managing Director of the National Petroleum Corporation of Namibia (NAMCOR), Maureen Hinda-Mbuende, acknowledged that skills gaps exist in the oil sector, citing them as not labour-intensive and often requiring more than one skill.

Namibia is open to learning from Qatar's experience in the development of the oil and gas sectors.

Today, President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah held talks with Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, the Qatari Minister of State for Energy Affairs, at State House.

The University of Namibia (UNAM) southern campus has celebrated the significant research progress and output of its more than N$130 million Rhino-Halliburton Technology Centre, highlighting its role in driving research excellence. 

Vice President Lucia Witbooi has said poor infrastructure and complex travel logistics remain key barriers to intra-African trade. 

Witbooi addressed a session titled 'Discover Namibia' at the Intra-Africa Trade Fair underway in Algiers City, Algeria.

Stakeholders in the Hardap Region have called on the government to recognise skill development and capacity building as key pillars of the envisaged National Upstream Petroleum Policy. 

Namibia and Algeria have renewed their commitment to work closely together in the oil, gas, and wider energy sector. 

This follows a meeting between Vice President Lucia Witbooi and Algeria's Minister of Energy, Mines and Renewable Energy, Mohamed Arkab. 

Stakeholders in ||Kharas Region have voiced diverse views of the draft National Upstream Petroleum Policy aimed at shaping the future of the emerging oil and gas industry. 

The Upstream Petroleum Unit under the Office of the President held the consultation in Keetmanshoop. 

The Namibian government kicked off its stakeholder consultations on the draft National Upstream Petroleum Policy in Luderitz, marking the start of a host of such engagements nationwide, aimed at shaping the future of the oil and gas sector.
