The Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (nbc) reaches over 1.6 million people through its television, radio, and online services, with its main aim being to create high-quality content.

This was said by the Chief News and Programming Officer of the nbc, Menesia Muinjo, as the corporation bid farewell to three of its structural pillars, who are headed for retirement.

The three retirees—Lutz Von Dewit, Petronella-Aina Shipanga, and Anna ||Kaoseb—have worked for the corporation for over 35 years.

nbc allocates equal free airtime to political parties contesting Keetmanshoop Rural by-election

The Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (nbc) has allocated free broadcasting airtime to political parties participating in the Keetmashoop Rural Constituency by-election slated for May 15.

This was revealed by the nbc’s Special Projects Manager during a consultation meeting with the political parties in Windhoek today (Thursday).

Kalilo Kalilo revealed that the broadcaster allocated 45 minutes of airtime that will be equally shared among the five political parties participating in the by-elections.

Miss Namibia, Miss Teen Namibia closing date for applications on 12 April

The closing date for applications for Miss Namibia and Miss Teen Namibia is Wednesday, April 12.

Interested applicants are urged to visit the regional offices of the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (nbc) to access application forms and get the chance to represent Namibia on the international stage.

Since the nbc took over 100% ownership of the Miss Namibia Organization, the corporation has been going on roadshows throughout the country to ensure inclusive participation in the beauty pageant, which will take place in Swakopmund in June.

National broadcaster urged to focus coverage in rural areas

The Information and Communication Technology Minister, Dr Peya Mushelenga, has urged reporters of the national broadcaster to also focus their coverage in rural areas.

Dr. Mushelenga made the call when he visited the Otjiwarongo nbc Regional Contribution Center after he opened the communication officers training workshop in the town.

Dr. Mushelenga said there is a constant need for rural development and current affairs to be featured on the daily news platforms of the national broadcaster.

Molelo Radio Drama Project launched

The Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (nbc) has launched the Molelo Radio Drama Project, a new venture that promises to be a game changer in the country's entertainment economy.

The project was launched by the national broadcaster's Director General Stanley Similo in Windhoek.

The project received an overwhelming response to its call for proposals from the public for radio dramas in various languages.

The Molelo Radio Drama Project was initiated by the nbc to promote Namibian cultural diversity and art through local dramas in all languages.

NORED enters 3 year agreement with nbc

Radio personalities in Namibia do not get the recognition they deserve.

These were some of the sentiments expressed by Franklin Shitaleni, a radio presenter at the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation's (nbc) National FM. 

nbc News spoke with Shitaleni ahead of World Radio Day, which is observed annually on February 13th.

Shitaleni, who has been a radio presenter for about 8 years now, says that being a radio presenter is not only about having a good voice but also being knowledgeable and qualified for the position.

NBC to allocate equal free airtime to entities contesting in Moses Garoeb bi-election

The Namibian Broadcasting Corporation will allocate equal free airtime to all registered political parties and independent candidates contesting in the upcoming Regional Council bi-election for the Moses Garoeb Constituency. 

NBC management revealed this during a meeting with participants.

The bi-election slated for the 6th of January 2023 comes after the death of the constituency councillor, Aili Venonya, who died in October.

The equal free airtime allocation content will be broadcast on TV on NBC 1 at 18H50 from 26 December to 4 January 2023.
