The Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (nbc) and the Ministry of Urban and Rural Development (MURD) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding whereby the nbc will partner with the ministry to ensure professional and reliable communication.
This agreement reinforces their longstanding relationship and commitment to delivering quality information to the public.
The national broadcaster boasts a viewership of over 1.6 million, which gives the nbc an advantage in reaching out and transmitting information to a wider audience, hence the partnership to ensure that the mandate of the ministry and plans are carried out.
MURD Executive Director Nghidinua Daniel reaffirmed that the national broadcaster has the capacity to communicate effectively with the public, and the ministry has therefore chosen to reinforce their longstanding relationship through this agreement.
"Through this partnership, we are going to get access to all the platforms of the nbc, and the DG will elaborate more on what the offering is that is coming from this partnership, but really just for me to welcome you, DG, and your team to this partnership cementing ceremony, which I said is long overdue."
nbc Director General Stanley Similo echoed this sentiment, emphasising the importance of the partnership.
"We do have the platforms through which governments can talk to the people in this country, and these platforms do allow that correct information is reaching the masses because our job as a conduit is to allow for such information to reach literally each and every Namibian to be able to hear and see what is done."
The renewed partnership is expected to enhance public awareness and engagement, leveraging nbc's extensive reach and effectiveness in delivering key messages from the ministry.
