Namibia has not achieved the malaria elimination goal, and cases have more than doubled compared to the 2022 end-line target.

This is despite a marked reduction in the number of malaria cases in the country.

Malaria cases decreased by 95%, from over 66,000 in 2017 to 3,000 in 2019.

Man allegedly kills mother in Kavango West

A Kavango West man allegedly murdered his biological mother after he chopped her with a hoe on the head.

Anastasia Tjangano (53) died on the spot.

According to the Namibian Police public relations department, the deceased and her son had an argument that resulted in a fatal blow.

Two families at Kahoro Village fight for piece of land

Two families at Kahoro Village in Kavango West are at loggerheads over the ownership of a piece of land on the banks of the Kavango River.

This happened after one family allegedly sold the 10-hectare piece of land to a couple who wanted to construct a lodge there.

Manager at Musese Green Scheme optimistic for good harvest

The manager at the Musese Green Scheme in the Kavango West, Winfried Metzger, is optimistic about a good harvest this year, despite constant power outages.

Poor rainfall during the planting forced the project to rely on machinery for watering the maize almost on a daily basis.
