LPM concerned about safety of Enumerators

Landless People's Movement (LPM) MP Henny Seibeb has voiced his concerns regarding the safety of census enumerators.

This comes in the wake of videos circulating where commercial farmers reportedly harassed and threatened the enumerators.

Seibeb has questioned whether the Namibian Defence Force should not be deployed to ensure the safety of the enumerators.

In response to Seibeb's concerns, the Minister of Defence, Frans Kapofi, reassured the public that, at this point, there is no need for military involvement.

Landless People's Movement (LPM) Chief Whip Henny Seibeb has warned members of parliament not to set up rules that criminalise outspoken parliamentarians.

Seibeb has urged his peers at a validation meeting in Swakopmund to come up with futuristic rules that will help strengthen the functions of parliament.

Members of the National Assembly have gathered in Swakopmund to review the current rules governing the house.

The last time the rules were reviewed was seven years ago.

LPM's Seibeb concerned about the slow progress of the Green Hydrogen programme

Landless People's Movement (LPM) Member of Parliament Henny Seibeb has expressed concern about what he describes as the slow progress of the country's Green Hydrogen programme.

Seibeb questioned whether this project would serve as a padlock for poverty or a key to prosperity.

In his motion on this new initiative in the National Assembly on Wednesday, he stated that despite the signing of the Feasibility Implementation Agreement between Hyphen Hydrogen Energy, the project is, unfortunately, progressing too slowly.

Government never stopped tracking COVID-19 - Health Minister

The Minister of Health and Social Services, Dr Kalumbi Shangula, says the government has never stopped its surveillance activities to track COVID-19 in the country. 

This comes in response to a question from LPM National Assembly member Henny Seibeb, who stated that he received a text message from a medical doctor about the resurgence and prevalence of COVID-19 in Namibia.

The Landless People's Movement must be responsive to remain relevant to the aspirations of Namibians.

This was the view of the party's Deputy Leader, Henny Seibeb, when he addressed the capacity-building conference, being attended by the organising committee members and local authority councillors.

In his address, Seibeb reminded delegates to continuously engage in robust instigation on social issues, as well as hold those in power accountable to the public and help fix any irregularities.
