Okorukambe councillor pleased with progress on Epukiro road

Okorukambe Constituency Councillor Rocco Nguvauva is pleased with the progress made at the Epukiro RC to Epukiro Pos 3 phase two road construction.

The eight-kilometre-long phase-two bitumen road is expected to be completed next year.

The constituency councillor of Okorukambe, Rocco Nguvauva, told nbc News that the work has started as planned this month with the construction of the bypass road as a detour while construction is under way.

The Councillor of Katima Mulilo Urban Constituency, Kennedy Simasiku, is concerned about the state of hostels in the Zambezi Region.

According to Simasiku, who made these remarks at Katima Mulilo when he received a donation of mattresses from Tsumeb Dundee Metal, the majority of hostels in the region are in dilapidated condition.

The donation is intended to benefit the Caprivi Secondary School Hostel and Kizito College.

Simasiku commended Dundee Metals for their commitment to giving back to the community.

Otjombinde Councillor Wenzel Kavaka is pleased with the progress made in developing the new settlement, Eiseb 10 Growth Point.

Developments include a livestock auction pen and the construction of an oxidation pond.

Eiseb 10 Growth Point is a remote area, but services are now reaching the community.

Kavaka says that given the good number of livestock in the area, the newly constructed auction pen will benefit farmers immensely and cut costs, as farmers had to travel more than 200 kilometres to the nearest pen.

These are the sentiments of Otjiwarongo Constituency Councillor Marlene Mbakera, when she received donation of furniture for the recently renovated community hall at the settlement.

Mbakera says development is slowly taking shape at Kalkfeld, which sees little or no economic activities.

She says plans are now in motion to host an open day for more investors to set up shops in the area.

Kalkfeld was downgraded in 1996 due to a lack of growth.

The incident sent shockwaves after a video started circulating on social media.

The incident took place at Otambo Yakawali village.

It is alleged that the victim was chained by her guardians after they noticed that the girl always stole from the neighbourhood and school.

In an attempt to discipline and keep the child at home, her guardians chained her, claiming they were too old to control her.

Scholtz hosted a one-day leadership and mentoring workshop for members of the Learner Representative Council of Luderitz Secondary School over the weekend.
