Members of parliament in the National Council have called on the government to make mental health a national health priority, supported by adequate budgetary resources.

Men should not view seeking help for mental health challenges as a sign of weakness or shame, but rather as a solution that can improve their well-being and quality of life.
 

The church is a safe place. This message formed the core of a peaceful protest, led by the Council of Churches in Namibia, as congregants marched down Independence Avenue, demanding justice for women and children who have been raped or murdered. 

The Minister of Gender Equality and Child Welfare says there is a need for more GBV shelters in the country.

What was once managed by a single specialist and one medical officer now requires a larger workforce to meet growing demands.

A former American teacher, Brian Stupek, has taken it upon himself to embark on a 10,880-kilometre walk across the African continent to spread awareness about sound mental health. 

Stupek's initiative Walking Africa started in Cape Town on 26 June 2024 and is expected to end in Tunisia, northern Africa.

About 520 cases of mental health-related issues were reported in the Erongo Region, including among learners.
