Johannes Trofimus, a talented young amateur boxer hailing from the esteemed MTC Kilimandjaro Boxing Academy, aspires to qualify for an upcoming amateur boxing tournament in Senegal this September.

At the age of 23, Trofimus discovered his passion for boxing when his older brother convinced him to embrace the sport. With dreams of becoming a professional boxer, he aims to represent not only his hometown but also his country and the renowned MTC Kilimandjaro Boxing Academy.

Residents of Omusati's Amaupa and Oikokola villages are fuming over the lack of cellphone network coverage, resulting in them resorting to climbing trees in search of a network.

The fed-up villagers handed over a petition to the Tsandi Councillor and the Governor of the Omusati Region.

The villagers say the non-availability of network coverage has made it difficult for them to report incidents of crime and emergencies.

They are calling on MTC, or Telecom, to erect a network tower in their villages.

The Groendraai Primary School, located on the outskirts of Rehoboth, is the most recent school to benefit from MTC's Rural School Project.

Constructed 71 years ago on privately owned farmland, this rural school serves 225 learners.

Prior to MTC's Rural School Project intervention, the classrooms were in a dire state.

According to the school principal, Charlton Rickerts, students are squeezed into classrooms, exacerbating the challenges posed by varying weather conditions.

Tables turned at what was expected to be an occasion of celebration at Okahandja when micro-entrepreneurs received stalls from MTC.

Beneficiaries are, however, not pleased with the donation, citing issues of safety and space.

Okahandja's microentrepreneurs were blessed with a space for them to put up their businesses and operate under a roof.

Unfortunately, the micro-entrepreneurs were not moved; instead, they were unhappy and dismayed by what was offered.

MTC has reiterated that customers who wish to continue using the services provided by the mobile giant must provide their biometric data during the registration of their SIM cards.

MTC's insistence comes in contrast to the stance taken by the Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia (CRAN), which clarified that the capture of biometric data would not be mandatory for SIM card registrations.

Despite the directive issued by CRAN on Friday, MTC remains firm in its position.

A number of local companies took to social media to celebrate and appreciate their employees on Worker's Day.

MTC awarded its employees between N$30 000 and N$60 000 through its MTC Dreamers Project in a bid to aid them to create a sustainable value chain for themselves.

Employees were required to apply by submitting a business plan or an original idea, before being subjected to a series of presentations in order to convince the Evaluation Committee – made up of internal MTC experts to approve their envisaged plan.

At the signing ceremony in Walvis Bay, Erongo Red's Chief Executive Officer described MTC as a digital enabler for the public sector.
