The Municipality of Swakopmund has taken another step toward addressing the housing backlog by donating 165 erven to residents living on the outskirts of the DRC informal settlement.

The Cradle of Hope Foundation hosted its first-ever Christmas lunch in Swakopmund's DRC informal settlement, where they fed more than 170 children.

The event highlighted the urgent need for stronger support systems for vulnerable girls and gender-based violence victims in the community.

The Ubuntu Safe Haven Soup Kitchen in the DRC informal settlement on the outskirts of Swakopmund is pleading with good Samaritans to assist in building a dining hall and utensils. 

The soup kitchen feeds over 300 children, who receive their meals in the open.

Police Inspector General, Lieutenant General Joseph Shikongo, is satisfied with the progress made by the contractors that are building the N$20 million police station on the outskirts of Swakopmund's DRC informal settlement.

Chief Inspector Ileni Shapumba, the Commander of Community Policing in the Erongo Region, has issued a stern warning to the public against engaging in mob justice and taking the law into their own hands. 

Community members have come to the aid of a vulnerable family that has been sleeping in the open at the DRC informal settlement at Swakopmund.

The good samaritans, among other deeds, constructed a two-bedroom shack and donated a mobile toilet, a tent, blankets, food, and other necessities.
