Residents from the Okahandja Park Settlement in the Morning Star A area, have complained that the Municipality has bypassed households that have been there for over two decades.

The Okahandja Municipality and the Maqiao Town in the Minhang District of Shanghai, China, have revived their partnership after 30 years. 

The partnership covers waste management, agribusiness and technology, and youth skill development.

Land disputes have erupted in Okahandja, with community activist Johannes │Gaseb accusing the Town Council of favouritism and politically motivated land allocations—claims the Municipality has denied.

Okahandja Municipality will soon have a fire station.

Currently, firefighters operate from the municipal offices.

Okahandja has a population of over 46,000 residents.

The Okahandja municipality is embarking on a number of projects to improve service delivery.

Among the projects are the construction of a fire station, the consolidation of plots 117 and 118, developing agricultural plots for the residents, and the Okahandja Medi Park.

The residents of Ekunde 4 and 5 in Okahandja are unhappy with a hazardous landfill that is in close proximity to the settlement amid fears that it may pose life-threatening health risks.
