Kavango East Governor recalls challenging times

The Kavango East Region has experienced a number of unfortunate incidents that have resulted in the loss of lives. Its Governor, Bonifatius Wakudumo, highlighted some of those in his State of the Region Address.

It was an incident that shocked not only the region but also the entire country.

Kavango East region records gains in past year

The Governor of the Kavango East, Bonifatius Wakudumo, says despite the hardships experienced in 2022, the region also recorded moments of wonder and joy. 

Wakudumo delivered his state of the region address in Rundu today. 

In his address, the Governor highlighted successes made in education, health, and agriculture.

Our region's 37.5% share in the Namibia Senior Secondary Certificate Ordinary Level examination achieved the number one (1) position nationally.

Salomon April calls for collaboration between all stakeholders

The Governor of Hardap Region has called for collaboration between all stakeholders to ensure socio-economic development and economic growth take place in the region.

Salomon April made the call during the fourth annual State of the Region Address.

"I acknowledge the diverse political landscape in the region; however, it should be understood that when it comes to issues of socioeconomic development and upliftment of citizens' livelihoods, we should continue to hold hands. Combine intellects and pull in the same direction for development and growth."

Aletha Frederick's updates regional development

||Kharas Governor Aletha Frederick has reminded the regional political leadership to uphold the country's constitution.
 
She made the call during the Regional Development Update address.

Governor Frederick says she could not deliver the State of the Region Address for the third consecutive year; it is being replaced by the Regional Development Update Address.

She maintains that the ||Kharas Regional Council has denied her request to carry out her constitutional obligation to deliver the SORA since 2019.

Oshikoto RC budgets N$46 million towards infrastructure development

The Oshikoto Regional Council has budgeted N$46 million towards accelerating infrastructure development and increasing socio-economic activity in the region.

Governor Penda ya Ndakolo revealed this during his State of the Region Address at Omuthiya.

The budget will, among other factors, cater for the provision of potable water and electricity to rural areas and settlements, as well as other growth centres.

To address high unemployment, the region is on a mission to capacitate SMEs, both in urban and rural areas.

Ohangwena Governor reports on successes in service delivery

Ohangwena Governor Walde Ndevashiya says effective governance, economic development, social progression, infrastructure development, and the strengthening of international relations are factors key to economic emancipation.

Ndevashiya made these remarks during his fourth State of the Region Address at Eenhana.

The governor says the region has made great improvements in service delivery in areas including health care provision, education, and rural electrification.

Kavango West development capital projects advancing effectively

Kavango West Regional Governor Sirkka Ausiku is happy that several capital projects are progressing well after interruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, among others.

Ausiku, however, noted that many residents still walk long distances to access basic services.

The region received a N$200 million allocation for the completion of 33 ongoing and envisaged capital projects this financial year.

Among others, the Ministry of Sport, Youth, and National Services has budgeted N$10 million for the development of sports facilities.

Kavango West Regional Council continues to prioritise youth empowerment

The Kavango West Regional Council continues to place youth empowerment among its priorities.

Governor Sirkka Ausiku, in her State of the Region Address (SORA) at Nkurenkuru, pointed out various programmes and initiatives geared towards youth empowerment.

The governor says the regional council supports 26 horticulture projects and is calling on financial institutions to invest more in agriculture.

Ausiku also called on the Nkurenkuru Town Council to introduce more urban agriculture, which she says has the potential to reduce youth unemployment.
