Chief Manasse Zeraeua remembers late Dr. Geingob

Chief Manasse Christian Zeraeua of the Zeraeua Royal House has joined scores of other traditional authority leaders mourning the death of the late President Hage Geingob, saying he will remember him as a Pan-Africanist.

The leader pointed out that he shared close relations with the late Dr. Geingob for the past 46 years.

Chief Zeraeua was speaking at a candlelight service at Omatjete Settlement in Omaruru Constituency in the Erongo Region.

The event started with traditional Herero cultural rituals to signal mourning.

Omatjete settlement continues to suffer from water shortage

The residents at Omatjete settlement in the Erongo Region continue to suffer from a water shortage, and Senior Councillor Fabianus Uaseupuani has now called on the regional office to fast-track a pipeline project that can temporarily solve the problem.

Lazarus Ngairo said the water crisis at Omatjete, a settlement in rural Erongo, has been worsened by the drought of the past seven years.

After underground water sources decreased, only one borehole remained operational to provide water to the community.

Omatjete Settlement complete renovations to local health centre

Donors and volunteers in the community of Omatjete settlement in the Erongo Region have completed renovations of a health center.

Dr Kalumbi Shangula, Minister of Health and Social Services, has praised the community's charitable spirit as it improves service delivery.

At the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the community of Omatjete realized the need to strengthen public health care as the clinic was overloaded.

Traditional leaders and the Omatjete Initiative Committee mobilized community members and relatives from abroad to donate money and their services.
