Two minors dead, six hospitalised due to suspected food poisoning

Two minors have died, while six are hospitalised at the Rundu Intermediate Hospital due to suspected food poisoning. 

This happened at Livayi Village, 155 kilometres east of Rundu in the Ndiyona Constituency.

Six of the children are related, while the other two are neighbours who also consumed the food. 

According to family members who spoke to nbc News, a 13-year-old boy had prepared a lunch consisting of porridge and mutete, which the children consumed. 

Agriculture Ministry holds sub-basin landscape level inception meeting

The ministries of Agriculture, Water and Land Reform, and Environment, Forestry, and Tourism held a sub-basin landscape level inception meeting at Ndiyona Constituency in the Kavango East Region.

The meeting was meant to sensitise locals to the project and eventually get them to buy into it.

The five-year project, launched at Rundu on the first of March this year, is funded by the Global Environment Facility and implemented through the two ministries at a cost of N$6 million.

Traditional healer denied bail

A traditional healer suspected of murder was denied bail at the Rundu Magistrate's Court on Friday.

This decision comes in light of the deaths of two women at Kandjara Village, located in the Ndiyona Constituency of Kavango East.

The deceased women had sought treatment from the traditional healer, Andrew Haushiku Mberema, prior to their untimely demise.

45-year-old Mberema initially fled the village but later surrendered himself to the police in Ndiyona on Wednesday.

Former Swapo Party regional councilor Eugene Likuwa dies

Former Swapo Party regional councilor Eugene Likuwa has died.

Likuwa, who was the former councillor of Ndiyona Constituency in the Kavango East Region, died in the Rundu state hospital.

Swapo Regional Coordinator Otilie Shinduvi confirmed his death.

Late Likuwa was elected regional councillor in 2015 and served as a member of the Kavango East Regional Council Management Committee.
