Most crime categories rise during festive season

Compared to last year’s crime statistics for the festive season period of November to December, most crime categories across the regions have increased this year, with only three type murder, culpable homicide, and protected game products  showing a decrease.

Namibia has recorded a sharp increase in road-related deaths and crashes this year, according to the latest year-to-date crash statistics released today.

The figures were released today by NamPol's Head of Traffic Law Enforcement, Commissioner Petrus Swartz.

The Namibian Police Force recorded close to 5,000 gender-based violence (GBV) cases countrywide in 2024.

Erongo Regional Commander Commissioner Nikolaus Kupembona revealed the statistics at Walvis Bay, where a workshop for male police officers is underway.

Stakeholders have agreed to set up an integrated Gender-Based Violence Information Management System for Namibia by March 2027.

The stakeholders from the government, private and civil sectors made the decision at a high-level meeting at Swakopmund.
