NCS warns public against contraband smuggling

The Namibian Correctional Service (NCS) has reiterated its call to the public to refrain from smuggling contraband into its facilities.

The NCS made the call during a campaign against the smuggling of illegal items into the correctional facilities in Windhoek.

The awareness campaign began with a march in an effort to educate the public on the dangers of smuggling drugs, cellphones, knives, weapons, money, cigarettes, and alcohol into the facilities.

Public urged not to make payment to persons claiming to assist in securing employment at the National Correctional Service

The Namibian Correctional Facility is cautioning the public not to make any monetary payment to any person claiming to assist in securing employment in the National Correctional Service.

In a media statement, Commissioner General Raphael Hamunyela says they have been receiving numerous complaints from job seekers who fell victim to paying money to strangers offering to facilitate job placement in the Service.

This follows the announcement of job openings last year.
