The Minister of Finance and Public Enterprises, Iipumbu Shiimi has requested the Nampol Inspector-General, Joseph Shikongo to conduct a threat assessment on Namcor Board chairperson, Jennifer Comalie and provide necessary security to her.

Shiimi, in a letter to Lt. Gen. Shikongo, said that Comalie had informed him and Mines and Energy Minister Tom Alweendo that she was worried about her safety and that of her daughter, during a meeting last week.

This is after she was informed by close relatives that some people are not happy with what she is doing at the state oil company.

The letter states that Comalie further informed the two ministers that those who are unhappy with her work would take unspecified action against her, which initially did not worry her.

Iipumbu said he advised the Namcor board chairperson to closely monitor the situation and inform them in case she observes strange activities around her.

Instead, on Monday Comalie informed Iipumbu and Alweendo that the police called her to inform her that they needed to conduct a search of her vehicle.

Police discovered drugs in her vehicle under her seat during what they say was an intelligence-led operation.

Comalie was since arrested just ahead of a board meeting to discuss investigations into the N$100 million unauthorized payment Namcor made to Angolan partners.
