NAMCOR's Board Member, Jennifer Comalie who was arrested yesterday for possession of illicit drugs was granted bail of N$7000 in the Windhoek Magistrate's Court today.

The matter has been postponed to 31 July for further investigation.

The media, members of the public including some prominent figures were among those gathered in the Windhoek Magistrate's Court in anticipation of the first appearance of Namcor's board member who stands accused of being in possession of illicit drugs.

According to sources, the docket has been taken to the office of the Prosecutor General for a decision on whether to prosecute or not, as the information surrounding the case is still unclear and there are a lot of speculations as to whether the drugs belonged to the accused person or if she was set up.

Namcor's, board member was arrested on suspicion of drug possession after drugs including cannabis, crack cocaine, and cocaine powder were allegedly found in her vehicle.

Under Namibian law, any accused person arrested should be charged and appear before a competent court of law within 48 hours. As Comalie has not been charged yet, it is important that the decision is made by the Prosecutor General's office in a timely manner.

Her legal team has not yet made a statement on the matter, and it is unclear what charges, if any, she will face until the Prosecutor General's office makes a decision.
