The David Namwandi Trust launched an annual school marathon ,with the 2023 edition set to take place on the 22nd of April.
This was revealed at a press briefing at the International University of Management in Windhoek on Monday.
The David Namwandi Annual Marathon will be open for registration to high school learners as well as university students and associates across the country.
The event, which only includes two categories, will start at IUM in Dorado Park on the 22nd of April at 6:30AM.
The two categories include a 10km run for high school learners, while the second category incorporates a half marathon of 21 km for university students and associates.
Registration will cost 30 Namibia dollars for high school learners and 100 Namibia dollars for university students. Registration can be done on the IUM website.
IUM Events Officer Taleni Matheus made it clear that the marathon is not under the umbrella of IUM but rather under the trust. In her speech, Matheus also announced the prizes, which can be won on the day of the event.
Also in attendance was the Chief Administrator of the Namibia Sports Commission, Freddy Mwiya.
Meanwhile, founder David Namwandi spoke about the main purpose of the marathon.
The David Namwandi Trust Annual Marathon will be rotational and take place in the Erongo region next year.
