The Otjiwarongo community joined family and friends of the late Theo Borstlap at the Memorial at Paresis Stadium to bid farewell to the late business guru on Friday.

Vice President Nangolo Mbumba was among those who attended the sending-off of a man who inspired many with his love and affection.

Employees at the famous SuperSpar were left in distress.

Otjiwarorongo Mayor Gottlieb Shivute says the late Borstlap, who left a great legacy behind, contributed immensely to the development of the town.

"As a local business pioneer with a true passion for local economic stimulation and an avid anthropologist when it came to ploughing back to the community, Theo had for many years supported the Council's Multi-Purpose Help Centre on a monthly basis with food and toiletry supplies to the value of N$12,000, for the Otjiwarongo Multi-Purpose Centre's registered Orphans and Vulnerable children. He was always willing to assist not only the Otjiwarongo Council but anyone knocking on his door for assistance."

He is survived by his mother, wife, and three children.
