About 20 female parliamentarians are currently participating in a two-day training programme focused on enhancing their communication skills, public speaking abilities, lobbying techniques, and advocacy efforts.
This workshop is aimed at strengthening the capacities of these parliamentarians to effectively promote and advance gender equality.
Moreover, it provides a valuable platform for collaboration among women from both houses of parliament.
The training also empowers participants to address pressing national concerns by equipping them with essential skills and fostering networking opportunities.
Oshana Governor Elia Irimari of Oshana encouraged all attendees to seize this opportunity for learning and capitalise on the resources provided by the platform.
"Let us embrace this opportunity to amplify our voices, break down barriers, and cultivate a political landscape that represents and empowers all. Together we can create a future where women's voices are not just heard but celebrated, where our ideas shape policies, and where our presence in parliament is truly transformative," said Elia Irimari, Oshana Regional Governor.
Emilia Nuyoma-Amupewa, Interim Chairperson of the Parliamentary Women Caucus Committee, emphasised that by equipping and uniting women legislators, they will be better equipped to tackle challenges related to gender issues.
She further stressed that those present should utilise their positions as influencers within the political and legislative spheres to advocate for increased investment in matters pertaining to gender equality.
