In an impressive display of skill and determination, Namibian football Champions African Stars secured their second victory on their tour in Botswana. They prevailed over Gaborone United with a resounding 3-0 scoreline on Sunday.
African Stars, who departed from the NFA Technical Centre during the past week, are currently in Botswana for a series of friendly matches against teams from the Botswana Premier League.
In their first match, they faced Masitaoka - a team comprising some former African Stars players. Stars won convincingly with a scoreline of four goals to one. The goals were scored by last year's leading goalscorer Willie Stefanus, Deon Tjuzumaue, Angelo Kuezi and Urii.
Saturday served as a rest day; however, the team seized the opportunity to watch Botswana's Township Rollers go head-to-head against South Africa's Kaizer Chiefs at Gaborone's national stadium. The well-attended high-profile encounter concluded with Township Rollers emerging victorious with a 1-0 win. African Stars will face Township Rollers in their final tour match on August 5th at the same venue.
African Stars challenged Gaborone United, one of Botswana's football giants. The Windhoek-based team had no difficulty securing victory as they won three-nil through goals from Comoros player Youssouf, Deon Tjuzumaue, and Immanuel Heita.
The decision by the team's management to embark on this trip appears to demonstrate their seriousness in sharpening their skills before facing Zambian champions, Power Dynamos, in the first leg of the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League.
The match is scheduled to take place at the national rugby stadium in Windhoek on the 19th of August.
