In a heartwarming development, Windhoek Gymnasium has recently granted a scholarship opportunity to 13-year-old Keila De Oliveira, a talented para-athletic swimmer. This response came after Keila reached out for assistance through a letter she shared on social media in July.

Keila De Oliveira is an enthusiastic young athlete with aspirations of becoming a neurologist or surgeon in the future. Driven by her love for sports and education, the determined 13-year-old took to Instagram in July to request scholarships from her top three schools: Windhoek Gymnasium, Windhoek High School, and Saint Georges.

On Monday, Keila's dreams became reality when Windhoek Gymnasium offered her sponsorship as she enters grade 8 at their school next year. Colette Rieckert, Managing Director of Windhoek Gymnasium, expressed her commitment to supporting Keila in achieving both academic excellence and sporting achievements.

"What I am offering her is an exceptional educational journey. Starting next year with us will allow her to complete her entire schooling career here," The beauty of her attending Windhoek Gymnasium is that even during times when she has international sports engagements lasting two or three weeks, she can continue online lessons without falling behind."said Rieckert.

Currently enrolled as a grade 7 student at Orban Primary School, Keila enjoys the unwavering support of her mother Cecilia de Oliveira. Overwhelmed with gratitude for this invaluable opportunity that alleviates financial burdens as a single parent, Cecilia expressed deep emotions while acknowledging the chance provided for Keila's educational advancement.

This scholarship will enable Keila De Oliveira to have flexibility in effectively managing both academics and swimming pursuits. Under the guidance of coach Diego Kahlari at Infinity Aquatic Centre, she currently trains diligently honing skills as a promising para-athlete.
