This year's 22nd edition of the Ongwediva Annual Trade Fair attracted a total of 450 exhibitors, among them 14 international exhibitors.

Speaking at the official opening on behalf of President Hage Geingob, the Deputy Minister of Trade and Industrialization, Verna Sinimbo, said the fair has become an integral part of promoting sustainable development for the benefit of current and future generations.

Trade fairs create opportunities for trade facilitation, business linkages between local entrepreneurs, corporate entities, government institutions, and foreign businesses, as well as networking.

"Exhibitions such as the Ongwediva annual Trade Fair amplify the industrial development policy of the government and encourage participants to take ownership of the process. The Ongwediva Trade Fair Society and the Town Council of Ongwediva should be commended for selecting the theme, as it serves as a catalyst and springboard for localised intervention towards an integrated smart market," said Geingob.

Ongwediva Mayor Tarah Shalyefu said the 22nd edition of the trade fair came with visible innovations, elevating it to a most illustrious exhibition.

"My wish is to see corporate institutions taking full advantage of the existence of the Ongwediva Annual Trade Fair to push their brands, meet marketing targets, and create synergy necessary for economic growth."

Business-to-business meetings are part of the weeklong trade fair, and entrepreneurs are encouraged to forge strategic partnerships and explore potential collaborations.

The trade fair is being held under the theme "Embracing a Sustainable Economy and Linking Smart Markets."

It ends on September 2.
