The Community Skills Development Foundation (COSDEF) has recommitted itself to continue imparting skills to Namibians, especially youth and women.

COSDEF is the umbrella body, managing at least eight centres in the country.

Since its inception about 30 years ago, COSDEF has graduated more than 30,000 trainees, of whom 400 are emerging entrepreneurs.

Erongo Governor Neville Andre, in a speech read on his behalf, commended COSDEF for enrolling trainees from less privileged backgrounds.

"Your new identity should reflect your commitment to inclusivity, diversity, and equity. COSDEF must continue to be a beacon of hope and opportunity for all, regardless of their background or circumstances. This rebranding is your pledge to be even more relevant and impactful."

COSDEF aspires to have all its courses fully accredited by the Namibian Qualifications Authority, which will cement the quality of training skills.

Swakopmund Mayor Dina Namubes commended COSDEF for contributing to economic advancement in the country.

"We are immensely grateful for your contribution in the education and entrepreneurial sectors. Especially for absorbing those who are unable to register at universities and institutions. Through your training, many have become entrepreneurs and created employment opportunities, and I believe you all agree with me. I was specifically pleased with COSDEF because of their commitment to assist the previously disadvantaged, such as the San learners."

COSDEF Acting Executive Manager Martin Nandu believes that if women and youth are provided with adequate skills, it will enable them to start small businesses and employ themselves and others.

The foundation launched its new logo in Swakopmund.
