Under the beautiful clear skies and with perfect road running conditions, the 9th edition of this highly anticipated annual competition mesmerized both participants and spectators. The half marathon showcased some incredible talent, with Hamutwa Shikongo from Kavango East initially taking the lead and capturing everyone's attention for the first 14 kilometers. However, as his energy dwindled, he was eventually overtaken by Shaliaxwe and Matheus from the Namibian Police, who showcased their exceptional skills and determination. 

From that point onwards, it was evident that Shaliaxwe had a meticulously executed plan, never looking back as he surged forward, leaving his competitors in awe. With a powerful sprint, Shaliaxwe crossed the finish line in first place, securing a well-deserved victory. Matheus closely followed, securing second place, while Geson Kooper from the Keetmanshoop Athletics club claimed an impressive third place. 

In the women's category, Martha Shivolo of the Namibia Correctional Service showcased her exceptional skills and determination, effortlessly maintaining her position at the forefront throughout the race. Her remarkable performance earned her the first-place position, leaving her competitors trailing behind. Alina Armas claimed second place, showcasing her talent and perseverance, while Leena Ekandjo secured the third spot with her impressive performance. 

Both Shivolo and Shaliaxwe couldn't contain their excitement and joy, celebrating their well-deserved victories in this prestigious competition. 

Event organizer Bethold Karumendu expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the sponsors and participants, recognizing the remarkable success of the event. Their support and dedication contributed immensely to the overall achievement of the competition. 

The presence of Jo-Ann Manuel, the Sport Director from the line Ministry, along with officials from her office, added to the prestige of the occasion. Their attendance underscored the importance of the event and further highlighted its significance in the sports community.

"The ministry is very very gratefull for what has been injected in here, for some people this is might be minimal but for us the opportunity created for our athletes to come and show their talent is immense and can not be valued wit the money that was put in, therefore we thank all the sponsors the smallest to the highest number, we thank you for giving this opportunity to out athletes "

 

To honor their exceptional performances, the winners were awarded 10,000 Namibian dollars each, along with well-deserved medals. Their dedication, skill, and perseverance were truly commendable, making them deserving recipients of these prestigious prizes. 

This edition of the competition will be remembered for its thrilling moments, outstanding performances, and the celebration of athletic excellence. Congratulations to all the participants and winners for making this event a true spectacle of sport!
