In a tumultuous turn of events, the National Assembly session scheduled for Thursday failed to proceed as anticipated, as it was marred by exchanges and heated debates right from the beginning.

The session quickly spiralled into chaos as Members of Parliament raised concerns about the dwindling attendance among their colleagues, demanded accountability, and proposed significant changes to the system.

The issue took centre stage when LPM MP Henny Seibeb took the floor, expressing deep concern over the alarming drop in attendance, particularly on Thursdays when ministers are expected to respond to questions.

Seibeb highlighted that only half of the expected 64 members were present, emphasising the urgent need for cooperation during this critical time.

Tensions escalated further as PDM Leader McHenry Venaani attempted to interject, demanding clarity and practical solutions to the attendance issue, adding to the already charged atmosphere within the chamber.

Amidst the chaos, Deputy Speaker Loide Kasingo struggled to maintain order, repeatedly reminding members to adhere to parliamentary rules.

The session was ultimately adjourned due to a lack of quorum, as a significant number of parliamentarians walked out of the chamber.
