Ohamba yOukwanyama Martha ya Nelumbu has urged the youth to prioritise education and acquire knowledge that will prepare them for successful careers.
Ya Nelumbu made an appeal at the Oukwanyama palace in Ohangwena during a visit by learners from Sakaria Shikudule Primary School and Ever Star Private School.
Ohamba ya Nelumbu emphasised the significance of education in shaping a prosperous future, urging the youth to seize every opportunity to equip themselves with the necessary skills to thrive in a modern world.
In a speech read on her behalf, she encouraged the youth to dedicate themselves to the upcoming examinations.
Theresia Shiuka, an Oukwanyama administrator, says, "If you are not studying what you have been taught by your teachers, those subjects cannot automatically be conceptualised by your brains. I implore all of you and your peers to go the extra mile and use the technological advancements to your advantage so that you grasp the subject matter.
Learners invited to the palace showcased their talent through a mesmerising traditional play.
The play, filled with vibrant traditional costumes and rhythmic dances, left the queen and her senior aides delighted.
The performance was hailed as a testament to the students' dedication to both their education and culture.
"If we are not getting a way for us to introduce our cultural norms, values, and heritages in schools, it will be a challenge for their younger generation to pass on our traditions to future generations, and we will be forced to adopt foreign cultures," says Fannes Namhunya, an English teacher at Sakaria Shikudule Primary School.
