The nbc Keetmanshoop Contribution Centre's radio studio is back on air.

This follows the upgrading of the contribution centre to allow the live broadcast of radio news and programmes from there.

The Head of Keetmanshoop Regional Contribution Centre, Natangwe Jimmy, says the installation of new radio studio equipment demonstrates the corporation's mission to increase its presence in the region.

A team of radio managers from the National FM, Hartklop FM, Kaisames, and KatiFM conducted auditions to find voices to be soon heard broadcasting from Keetmanshoop.

In the past, only KhoeKhoegowab live programmes and news broadcasts were done from the regional contribution centre.

"We had our first radio news broadcast of National FM being read yesterday, so that was just a beautiful moment to experience that part as NBC because we are really not just spreading our footprint in Namibia, but we are really developing this nation by giving our communities an opportunity for them to come into our studios physically and, you know, be able to broadcast live from this studio, colleague. That is one of the things people from the South have been waiting for a long time, so we are really happy, and you know, finally we are able to do that."

The nbc Radio Administration Manager, Nsinde Limbo, says there was a high volume of applications for the radio presenter audition.

"We were impressed with the outcome and response we got; people are actually interested in what we as the nbc do, and it goes to show that as nbc we really have an impact in society, we have an impact in the community, and people really want to buy into our vision, which is why it also amplifies the work that we do and also gives us hope that what we are actually doing is really having an impact in society, and with the exercise that we just concluded, it is really our hope that going forward, the people of the South will also have a voice, and the people will also tell their stories from their own perspective."
