With legs one, two, and three previously held in different towns, the Spinning National championship leg 4 was held in Otjiwarongo on Saturday.
The one-day spinning event had drawn adrenaline junkies from beyond the town to witness some of Namibia's most experienced spinners showcasing their daredevil skills.
Screeching wheels and the smell of burning tires were the order of the day as adrenaline junkies gathered to witness drivers showcase their skills.
It was an entertaining and competitive event between two highly-rated spinners in the country who are no strangers to each other.
Teammates once upon a time, but this time around, they stepped onto the racetrack as rivals.
Kyle Van Wyk, last year's national championship overall winner, shared his experience:
"It was actually great. I feel we are taking the sport forward and inspiring each other a lot. That means every event from here on, it's going to get tougher and better for the crowd," Van Wyk narrated.
Enzo Synder, last year's third runner-up, brought his A-game to the competition with a single vehicle, showcasing some incredible skills on the track with hopes to snatch this year's title.
He described the event as a beautiful competition:
"The feeling is good. It's nice when a tire pops and the drifting is nice, and the crowd.Otjiwarongo is very nice, the people here are good," Synder said.
The non-racing Namibia Motor Sport Federation chairperson highlighted the significance of the sport in society and further noted that the sport is growing tremendously.
"The sport is growing; it's getting the youth off the streets. I think you can also see by the masses that came to attend today that it's indeed an important sport that is getting people hyped and excited, and people are hungry for entertainment. At the same time, we are entertaining the people and as well as competing at the same time," said Benson Kalla, the chairperson of Non-racing Namibia Motor Sport.
The national spinning championship 5th leg will be held in Ondangwa on the 25th of November.
