Abdallah Mloka was denied bail following his brief appearance on charges relating to the Immigration Control Act in the Keetmanshoop Magistrate's Court.
State Prosecutor Marlon Adams objected to the granting of bail to the suspect on the grounds of an ongoing police investigation into the matter.
Moreover, he indicated to the court that more charges are expected to be added to the suspect's charge sheet.
Adams listed the sensitivity and the demonstrators' widespread outcry against the imposition of bail as further arguments.
Mloka told the court that he would enlist the services of a private lawyer.
After explaining to the suspect that he may lodge a formal bail application.
Magistrate Erich Dandu postponed the matter until February 26 next year.
