The Hardap Region's Electoral Officer, Willem |Uirab, said preparations for the upcoming Presidential and National Assembly Elections are going smoothly in the region.
|Uirab told the nbc News that, though they are well prepared, they are experiencing a shortage in vehicles.
637 polling officials are fully trained, and equipped, and wrote exams on Friday as well.
170 polling stations in the region are fully equipped with both sensitive and non-sensitive material and have already arrived and staffed, |Uirab said.
The region's electoral team, however, faces challenges with transport and has managed to only secure 83 vehicles so far.
In total, they need about 142 vehicles.
|Uirab said another challenge they are facing is the lack or little trust the public has in the ECN in the region, as they think that the commission is not quite ready.
Uirab said this stems from members of the public not attending stakeholder meetings that are held by ECN in the region.
He, however, said he expects a bigger turnout of voters compared to previous elections.
