Renowned athletics coach Henk Botha has reflected on the hardships he and Olympic runner Christine Mboma encountered in 2023.

While other athletes under the guidance of Henk Botha excelled in various championships in Europe, 2023 did not present the same fate for Namibia's sprint sensation, Christine Mboma.

She faced a temporary suspension from World Athletics due to high testosterone levels.

In an interview with NBC Sport, Mboma's coach and mentor, Henk Botha, described 2023 as a disastrous year for both himself and his athlete.

However, Botha expressed relief when the news broke that Mboma was cleared by the World Athletics body to return to the track.

He noted that with Mboma back in action, there is an enormous amount of pressure ahead for 2024.

Mboma, who sat out the entire year in an effort to lower her testosterone levels, received the green light last month to do what she does best in 2024.
