Celebrating New Year for the outgoers in Otjiwarongo was almost impossible as the police dispersed crowds' at different socialising outlets.

The night was tranquil for those who spent New Year's Eve and crossed into 2024 at church or at their homes.

However, the same could not be said for those who were looking forward to dancing the night away into the new year, as they could not find a better spot for a countdown.

The police were hard at work closing clubs, as they did not have special permits to operate beyond the late hours, and they made sure that no area on the streets was crowded.

That, however, did not deter the youths, as the countdown was done just in front of a local outlet while the police waited to disperse the crowd a few moments later.

The police festive season operation, which started on November 17th, will continue until the 17th of this month.
