The Brave Warriors were knocked out of the AFCON tournament after suffering a 3-0 defeat to Angola in the Round of 16 match played in Bouake, Ivory Coast on Saturday.

Brave Warriors' head coach, Collin Benjamin, started the match with the team that performed admirably against Mali in the final group match, but they were let down by a game plan that didn't work on the night.

Despite having their goalkeeper, Neblu, sent off for making a save outside the box, the Brave Warriors failed to capitalize on their numerical advantage, as 10-man Angola scored first through a well-executed play by striker Gelson Dala.

Brave Warriors' defender, Lubeni Haukongo, was also shown a red card shortly afterward for a second bookable offense.

With both teams reduced to ten players, it was Angola that extended their lead to 2-0 through Gelson Dala at halftime.

With the Brave Warriors showing no signs of a comeback, Angola added a third goal late in the second half, courtesy of Egypt-based striker Mabululu, sealing the final score.

Angola will face Nigeria in the quarterfinals, while Namibia is heading home.

The Brave Warriors are expected to receive close to 15 million Namibia dollars for their participation in the competition and reaching the Round of 16.

By winning a match and reaching the second half of the showpiece, the Brave Warriors made a significant piece of history as the first Namibia national team to achieve such a feat. Coach Collin Benjamin is also the first national coach to accomplish this. The team is expected back home on Wednesday.
