Mashi  Nfumu Joseph Tembwe Mayuni in the Zambezi Region says his community feels a dark cloud has befallen on them and is yet to come to terms with the death of the late president Geingob.

Nfumu Mayuni made the remarks at the Mashi Traditional Authority's memorial service for the late head of state.

Mayuni said Dr. Geingob lived like an ordinary person, despite his status.

He noted that the late President could laugh when he found people laughing and could dance, if he found the community dancing.

Nfumu stated that Geingob did not take himself to be of a particular tribe but belonged to all Namibians.

"Let us build our lives on the life of our late President. Lets work together with President Nangolo Mbumba and his Deputy Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwa and hold our country tie so that we go ahead and they should step in the footsteps of Geingob until we reach the next elections so that whoever will take over the presidency in 2025 should follow the legacy of our late President and continue with the Harambe Prosperity Plan, where he indicated that no one should feel left out. We also felt we were in the Namibian house, and even today we still feel so."

He remembers Geingob as a leader who promised that he wanted to leave Namibia in peace when the time of his term comes to an end.

He emphasised that he had plans to bring development to his people, though they trust in the newly sworn-in president and his deputy, including making sure that every citizen finds space in the Nambian house.
