The government has allocated N$2.8 million to all 14 regions of the country towards the hosting of regional memorial services.

Each region received N$200,000.

So far, the Oshana, Hardap, and Kunene regions have hosted their memorial services.

Oshikoto, Ohangwena, and Kavango West Regions will host theirs on Wednesday, while Omusati and Kavango East memorial services will take place on Thursday.

Some of those who want to attend the late President Hage Geingob's funeral and memorial service are appealing to the government to provide transport.

"Please, we are calling on the government to budget for transport to and from Windhoek so that we can go to the city to burry our president. It's painful, and we want to be there because he has done a lot for us. We want to see him and pay our last respects."

"We also need to be picked up because we don't have money to afford transport and other costs related to attending the burial. We want to be present in unity with others as we give a befitting send-off to our president because he was not even brought to us in the regions for memorial services. We are, however, happy that our plight as SAN communities has been addressed during his tenure."
