The Deputy Minister of Marginalised Communities, Royal Ui|o|oo has called on men to collectively commit to forging a more inclusive world for women.

He made the remarks while addressing a workshop promoting women's participation in the upcoming elections in the capital today.

|Ui|o|oo said there is a need to redress gender inequalities and eradicate all forms of discrimination against women of all ages in all spheres of life, including women's participation and representation in positions of power and decision-making at all levels.

"Women's political participation and representation are not only fundamental human rights but are also indispensable keys to sustainable development and democracy. Women are clearly entitled to participate and represent themselves in processes and institutions where decisions that affect their lives are made."

He also called on women in parliament and in decision-making to create a conducive environment for them to thrive in politics.

"Your role as a woman in decision-making at your party level, as well as that of those who are lawmakers in Parliament, is to create a conducive environment for women's participation in the political space to thrive. The presence of women gives a sense of inclusivity, security, and protection when women are appointed to public positions."

The two-day workshop attracted women from various spheres of society and discussed topics around advocating for more women in Parliament and reforms to advance their participation.
