Strong winds and heavy rainfall have caused damage to more than 10 households at Onderombapa, in the Aminuis Constituency.
The hailstorm left some family members homeless.
72-year-old Naomi Kandjii, a resident of Onderombapa village, narrated that a strong wind with heavy rainfall that lasted for half an hour caught them off guard and caused damage to properties and also to her recently bought vehicle.
The pensioner adds that the incident left her in distress, adding to her existing challenging health condition.
"It was in the afternoon when this heavy rainfall came down, accompanied by strong winds. When we got out of our houses, water was all over, and our cars that were packed under trees got damaged."
Another resident, Kavehuhu Kavikunua, echoed that the heavy rainfall forced him to source accommodation elsewhere as the roof of his house was blown away.
Kavikunua is now calling for urgent assistance from good samaritans while awaiting government assistance.
"I'm struggling to make a living, I'm also a sick person, and most of my money goes to maintaining my health. I'm even wondering where I will sleep if it rains again. Please assist us."
Aminuis Constituency Councillor Peter Kazongominja acknowledged that most families have been left destitute, but a team from a regional disaster risk management committee has been dispatched, and they are busy compiling a report.
He is optimistic that this time around, the government will aid the affected people.
"A year ago, Okonika targeted people who lost properties; to date, nothing was done for them, and everyone needed to go back to their own pockets. The other year, it was Otjongombe Properties that lost nothing. The government sent people on the ground, nothing happened, but later we were told it was not coming."
No fatalities were recoded, but minor injuries were.
