Eight farmers from Gobabis were arrested for trespassing at Farm Witsand in the district of Witvlei.
The group moved into Farm Witsand on Saturday, which belongs to the Ministry of Agriculture, Water, and Land Reform, with their livestock and other belongings.
According to the information obtained from the police, eight farmers moved into Farm Witsand, occupied the farm warehouse premises, and erected shacks without authorization.
The group spokesperson, Lesley Pienaar, told nbc News that they decided to invade the farm because they don't have grazing land and the farm has been idling for more than three years without any occupants.
Later in the day, the group was charged and appeared in the Witvlei Magistrates' Court, and each was ordered to pay bail of N$800 on the condition that they remove their animals within three days.
Their case will be heard on July 15th.
nbc News is reliably informed that the resettlement farm has been reserved for the returnees from Botswana.
Efforts to get a comment from the Chairperson of the Resettlement Committee, who is the Regional Governor, were unsuccessful as his mobile phone was off.
The ministry says the farm can be occupied, but only lawfully.
