The controversy surrounding the withdrawal of Dina Fillimon as representative of the 'Right to Shelter Association of Namibia' in the Gobabis Town Council appears far from over.

Two boys died this afternoon after a heap of sand collapsed on a group of children at the Kanaan C location in Epako, Gobabis.

According to a police incident report, the collapse occurred at a large excavated area.

The leader of the Right to Shelter Foundation of Namibia has promised to improve service delivery, boost the economy, upgrade key infrastructure, and practice good governance once it is elected to power at the Gobabis Town Council.

In Gobabis, one of the leaders of the A Right to Shelter Association has been arrested on charges of attempted murder and negligent driving. According to the police, the incident occurred when he allegedly struck an officer who was performing his duties.

The police in the Omaheke Region are partnering with church leaders around Gobabis to combat crime.

Chief Inspector Fina Sakajengenga, in an interview with NBC News, said churches have a major impact on creating communities, and it is important that they join in fighting social ills in society. 

The town of Gobabis in the Omaheke Region became the centre of national engagement and regional solidarity as it hosted the official commemoration of Africa Day of Decentralization and Local Development. 

Urban and Rural Development Minister James Sankwasa engaged with local authority leadership at Gobabis, addressing a number of pertinent matters brought to his attention by the region's residents.

 A local Omaheke farmer and two other benefactors donated safety boots to six needy COSDEC trainees at Gobabis.

The donation follows COSDEC Omaheke reaching out for assistance for trainees at the centre who lacked safety boots.

Police in the Omaheke Region have raised concerns over a spike in vehicle part thefts. Over ten cases have been reported since September, and two suspects have been arrested so far.
