The Omaheke Region Governor's Doctors Outreach Initiative is a humanitarian campaign to provide much-needed medical services in the region.

The initiative saw a team of 30 specialists from Windhoek embark on a mission to improve the health and well-being of Gobabis residents and surrounding areas.

The outreach team comprised experts from various medical fields, including neurologists, nephrologists, paediatricians, general practitioners, surgeons, sexual reproductive health nurses, anaesthetic nurses, gynaecologists, and senior health administrators.

This diverse group aims to fill the gap left by the under-resourced local public healthcare system.

Dr. Glendah Kalunga, a nephrologist and physician, emphasised the importance of giving back to the community.

Dr. Elkana Nande, a specialist surgeon based in Windhoek, echoed these sentiments.

During the campaign, the team provided comprehensive medical consultations, performed surgeries, and offered specialised care that would otherwise be unavailable in the region.

In cases where advanced treatment is necessary, patients are referred to Windhoek for further observation and care.
