Following a period of administrative disputes, Namibian football is poised for a strong comeback.

The Namibian Football Association (NFA) and the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and held a follow-up meeting to solidify their commitment to promoting football development in the country.

The MOU, signed on March 28th, 2024, paves the way for unrestricted broadcasting of all football activities in Namibia, including the top-flight league, lower tiers, and cup matches for both men's and women's divisions.

This agreement marks a significant step towards increased visibility and fan engagement for Namibian football.

During the meeting at NBC headquarters, the NFA delegation assured the national broadcaster of its dedication to improving the game.

Michael Situde, an NFA Executive Council member, urged football supporters at all levels to back the new leadership as they guide the NFA towards stability.

NBC Director General Stanley Similo echoed the importance of the partnership, highlighting the positive impact it will have on football development in Namibia.

The meeting also addressed the ongoing dispute between African Stars Football Club and NBC.

Since the beginning of the 2023/24 season, African Stars had prohibited NBC from broadcasting their home games, leading to a reciprocal boycott by NBC.

Both the NFA and NBC clarified the situation.

The NFA has unequivocally stated that all its members are bound by the NFA statutes and are expected to adhere to them, including any broadcasting agreements reached by the association.

This signifies that any club found breaching the regulations will be dealt with accordingly.

The collaboration between the two institutions signifies a new era for Namibian football.

With unrestricted broadcasting secured and a focus on development, all stakeholders can look forward to a brighter future for the sport in the country.
