Hostel dwellers at the Simataa Senior Secondary School in the Zambezi Region are breathing a sigh of relief following the donation of mattresses by the Mine Workers Union of Namibia (MUN).

Learners have been forced to make their beds on the bare floors.

Simataa Senior Secondary School has a school population of 435 learners, and 280 are living in the hostel.

The Control Administrative Officer at the Education Directorate in Zambezi Region, Patric Munitande, thanked the donors, saying the donation will assist in creating a conducive learning and living environment for the learners.

Zambezi Governor Alufea Sampofu urged learners and the school staff to make careful use of the donated resources.

Sampofu further appealed to businesses to consider lending support to address the challenges facing schools.
