The Namibian Broadcasting Corporation's mandate, which is to inform, educate, and entertain the Namibian nation, does not only apply to radio listeners and television viewers but also to its employees.
Friday night saw the broadcaster's employees dressed in 80s get-ups as part of an appreciation 'Disco Night'.
The disco night serves as an employee-oriented investment aimed at increasing productivity, employee engagement, and producing "loyalists" to the nbc brand.
The event offered the ideal opportunity for colleagues to get friendly on a personal level beyond the day-to-day responsibilities they share.
And the night kicked off with nbc Directorate General Stanley Similo walking into the disco with style.
Similo took it upon himself to be the DJ for a good twenty minutes.
He applauded employees for a job well done and for the sacrifices and efforts they consistently put in.
"Tonight is about you, nothing else you will recall. From November into December into January into February into March, we have been very busy for both radio and television. During the festive season, we have been all over the country informing people of what was happening, how people were enjoying themselves, and transformation. After that, somewhere in January, we turned into Afcon, which was a big event for us because we could broadcast all the games. In terms of what was happening, for us, the cherry on top was the participation of the Brave Warriors, who went through to round sixteen. While we were busy with the games, then came the passing of the late president, and that means that we had to change the game because we had to air Afcon and the funeral pre-arrangements."
The event served to strengthen unity, with employees dancing to the nostalgic tunes of the 1980s.
And many employees used the platform to dress up in stunning gear to turn heads.
Also, as a token of appreciation, employees in attendance received special, branded jerseys.
